Who we are
Mailvesper is developed by APDSoftware, based at Via C. Colombo 15, 24047 Treviglio (BG), Italy — VAT no. (P.IVA) 03835250162, REA BG 431224. For any privacy question: [email protected].
Mailvesper runs on your computer and APDSoftware does not receive or process your mail or your Google data (see section 5): that data is processed by your mail provider under its own rules. For data collected when you visit the apdsoftware.it website, the website’s Privacy & Cookie Policy applies.
Data Mailvesper accesses
When you add a Google (Gmail) account you approve, on Google’s own page, the following access:
https://mail.google.com/: full access to your mailbox through IMAP and SMTP. This is the only scope Google accepts for those protocols. Mailvesper uses it to list folders and messages, read messages and attachments, mark them read or flagged, move and delete them, save drafts and send messages. It does these things only when you ask for them or, for listing and reading, to show you your mailbox.openidandemail: your Google email address, used to check that the account you signed in with is the one you are adding.
For other providers (Microsoft, iCloud, any IMAP/SMTP server) Mailvesper accesses the same kind of data in the same way, with the access you grant or the password you enter.
How the data is used
Only to show you your mail and to carry out the actions you request in the application. Not for advertising, profiling, analytics or any other purpose.
Where the data is stored
- Sign-in token. After you approve access, Google gives the app a refresh token. It is stored on your computer, encrypted with the operating system’s secure storage (macOS Keychain, Windows data protection, or the Linux secret service). Short-lived access tokens are kept in memory only. Passwords entered for other accounts are stored the same way.
- Mail. Mailvesper does not keep a local database of your messages. They are fetched from the server when needed and held in memory while shown.
- Attachments. A file you open, or attach when forwarding, is saved in a temporary folder of your computer, which the app removes when it quits.
- Settings. Account names, colours, signatures and server settings are saved in a local file in the application’s data folder.
- Activity log. The log of operations shown in the app is kept in memory only, is lost when the app quits and never contains passwords or tokens.
Sharing
Mailvesper does not send your data to APDSoftware or to anyone else. It does not use analytics or advertising, does not sell data, and no person at APDSoftware reads your mail. The only network connections are those to your mail provider (Google’s sign-in service, IMAP and SMTP servers), and to servers that host remote images in a message, which are loaded only if you choose to show them. APDSoftware makes no transfers of data to third countries, because APDSoftware receives no data.
Google user data is not used to develop, improve or train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Mailvesper’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Keeping and deleting data, and revoking access
- Remove an account in the application (Accounts window) and its stored token or password is deleted from your computer.
- You can revoke Mailvesper’s access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Uninstalling the application and deleting its data folder removes everything it stored on your computer.
- APDSoftware holds no copy of your data, so there is nothing to delete on our side. Your mail stays on your provider’s servers, under your provider’s policy.
Your rights
Because APDSoftware does not hold your data, there is nothing for you to access, correct or delete with us: for the data in your mailbox, contact your provider. If you have questions, or believe this policy is not being followed, write to [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
Children and changes
Mailvesper is a general-purpose mail client and is not directed at children. If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. See also the Terms of Service.
